Rakesh Sahni, MD
Rakesh Sahni, MD, is an experienced cardiologist at Maryland Cardiology Associates, serving adults in and around Greenbelt, Maryland, and throughout Prince George’s County.
Dr. Sahni began his professional pursuits at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (G.S.V.M) Medical College in Kanpur, India, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. Following graduation, he remained on campus and completed specialty training in internal medicine.
After completing an internship and several medical residencies, Dr. Sahni moved to the United States. Before entering private practice, he completed a residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and a second residency at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland.
Dr. Sahni subsequently completed a cardiology fellowship at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship.
Dr. Sahni is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology. He proudly holds membership in the American College of Cardiology.
Professionally, he’s affiliated with Washington Adventist Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland; Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland; Doctor’s Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland; and George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.
When he isn’t working with clients and developing treatment plans, Dr. Sahni enjoys spending time with his family. Specifically, his wife and two children.
Ernesto Africano, MD
Ernesto Africano, MD, FACC, is a skilled cardiologist offering comprehensive care at Maryland Cardiology Associates PA in Greenbelt, Maryland. He provides noninvasive cardiology services for patients throughout Prince George’s County. Dr. Africano is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Africano attended the University of Maryland in College Park, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Then, he went on to attend Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, where he completed his Doctor of Medicine Degree.
Following his academic training, Dr. Africano undertook an internship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in San Diego, California. He then returned to Howard University Hospital, completing a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Africano has been the director of the echocardiography laboratory and the director of the coronary care unit at Howard. He also ran a successful private practice for nearly two decades before joining the Maryland Cardiology Associates PA team.
Wilton Nedd, MD
Wilton Nedd, MD, is a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Maryland Cardiology Associates, serving adults in Greenbelt, Maryland, and throughout Prince George’s County.
Dr. Nedd began his professional pursuits at Howard University in Washington, DC, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Following graduation, he enrolled at the Howard University College of Medicine, also in Washington, DC, and obtained his Doctor of Medicine.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Nedd completed postgraduate training in general surgery at Howard University Hospital, followed by an internship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the Wayne State University-affiliated hospitals in Detroit, Michigan.
During his career, Dr. Nedd has served at various medical practices throughout Maryland and the Washington, DC, metro area. He holds membership in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the District of Columbia Medical Society.
Dr. Nedd enjoys getting to know his patients and works with them one-on-one to develop custom care plans that encourage good cardiovascular health. He welcomes any man or woman to Maryland Cardiology Associates today.
Neil Sahni, MD
Neil Sahni, M.D. is board certified cardiologist. He completed his medical school training at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and then went on to complete Internal Medicine residency at the University of Miami in Florida. He pursued his cardiology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital System in New York. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and maintains active membership with the American Heart Association. Dr. Sahni’s passion is the treatment of a broad spectrum of cardiac conditions, using his expertise to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to his patients. He has two young children and when not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking and playing tennis.
David J. O’Connor MD, FACS
Dr. David J. O’Connor is a distinguished vascular surgeon based in Hackensack, New Jersey, with a robust academic and clinical background. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, where he has dedicated his career to advancing surgical education and vascular research.
Dr. O’Connor completed his medical education at the University of Miami School of Medicine, earning his MD in 2004. He subsequently completed his general surgery residency and chief residency at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a prestigious clinical fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Since joining Hackensack University Medical Center in 2012, Dr. O’Connor has held multiple roles, including Attending Surgeon and Director of Vascular Research. His leadership extends to Palisades Medical Center, where he serves as Division Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and he is also an attending surgeon at Pascack Valley Medical Center. His commitment to patient care is evident through his extensive surgical practice across multiple medical centers.
Sharon Abueg, CRNP, BSN, RN, PCCN
Sharon Abueg , received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Cebu Doctor’s College of Nursing , Philippines and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at Walden University. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care
Nurses , American Association of Nurse Practitioners and American College of Cardiology. Sharon had nursing experience in Multi -Trauma Critical Care Unit at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and as Emergency Nurse Practitioner at University of Maryland Medical Center. Sharon has a passion for helping others.
Fatoumata Ba, FNP-C
Fatoumata Ba FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner currently practicing in cardiovascular medicine at Maryland Cardiology Associates in Greenbelt, Maryland. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University in Chicago, Illinois, graduating Cum Laude and on the Dean’s List.
Fatoumata has extensive experience across multiple healthcare settings including cardiology, urgent care, emergency medicine, and medical-surgical nursing. She began her advanced practice career providing urgent care and at Express Health Care in College Park, Maryland, where she evaluated, diagnosed, and treated acute and chronic conditions.
Currently, as a Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner, she focuses on the prevention, evaluation, and management of cardiovascular disease, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. She is experienced in EKG interpretation, cardiac diagnostics, patient education, and evidence-based cardiovascular management.
